Michal Edree
Child-Parent Psychotherapist

My name is Michal Edree and I am a child- parent psychotherapist.

I have many years of experience working with children from different population types and a variety of problems. In addition at my private clinic I have vast experience working with parents and children together.

Becoming a parent is one of the most significant decisions we make in our lives. It is a huge challenge which includes all of the ups and downs of family life. I know that each of us faces different phases every day and every moment as a parent. Sometimes there are very happy and satisfying moments and sometimes it can be the hardest mission ever.

I am here to help you to cope when you feel frustrated and helpless and need some guidance to get you back on the right track.

What I can do
I can help you to better understand the situation, to feel confident and competent as a parent, to help you understand your child’s needs and to help you work on your relationship with your child.

My way of working
In my work I offer a short and focused intervention, which usually takes between ten and fifteen sessions. In this method, I focus on the main issue identified by the parents and I help them approach said issue and find ways to cope with it.

At the beginning of the process, I meet with the parents for an initial assessment, during which I take down the details. This includes medical treatment, life style details and the parental understanding of the child’s condition. During this session, the parents bring up and identify the issue they want to focus on. At the end of the session, we decide which method is the best for the treatment. It can be the parents with the child or the child alone with consulting the parents. All options are good and need to match the specifications of the family.

After five sessions, I meet with the parents again to evaluate and to examine the condition of the child and the parents.

In my work I put great emphasis on the parental involvement in the process. Therapy opens a child up so that what the parents have to offer can get in and heal the child. It is the parents’ capacity to create a safe and nurturing home that provides a healing environment and it is the main goal in this therapeutic path.

Parents are actively involved in the treatment. They are either in the room with the child or meet with the therapist once in a few sessions, to discuss the treatment and the process of their child.

If you have any question or you feel you would like more information over the phone, please feel more than welcome to call me.

My clinic is also open for individual, long term therapy for children, adolescence adults and couples that are interested in art-therapy and psychotherapy.

From Preschool to School / Michal Edree Child Parent Psychotherapist

Changes are an integral part of our lives and they are important phase to our development.

There are times that we remember as good or some can be an unpleasant memory. Such milestone is the transition from preschool to school. This transition is usually significant to the child and to the parents.

Transition to school is not only the beginning of the study, is the beginning of a different kind of independence, is the beginning of another social confrontation, is the beginning of a different agenda and is the beginning of acquaintance with the world.

It’s completely normal that all the things I mentioned above can cause the child stress and anxiety.

Sometimes the child is able to deal with these feelings by himself. He/she can do it by looking at an older brother or by asking questions and gaining knowledge, but sometimes the anxiety can be expressed in a less pleasant way as regression, childish behaviour or even return to the stage of difficulties to separate in which the child feels unsafe when Mom or Dad not by his side.

Most of the difficulties will appear usually at home because this is the safest environment for the child to expresses his concern and anxieties.

As an Art therapist and a child parent psychotherapist I have a lot of experience with these situations.

I can help you the parents to separate your feelings and to understand your experience as a parent from the child’s experience. How do you actually help the child deal with the unknown? How is the experience going to be for my child? How do we equip the right things to begin the school’s experience with a feeling of confidence and enjoyment?

All these are the common question that each of us who become a parent need to deal with.

In my clinic I am helping the parents and the child to go through this period together in a pleasant, contains and support way. I am using different technic in order to reduce the anxiety and to be able to express and to explore the different feelings that can evoke in the process.

Michal Edree is a professional Art Therapist and also a child parent psychotherapist that works for many years in the school system and also ran a private clinic for children and parents.
