AMBERIN FUR
Osteopath BSc Hons Ost DO
Spinal & Sports Specialist
Cranial & Paediatric Specialist
Osteopaths are trained as primary healthcare practitioners. Their focus is the diagnosis and treatment of the body which encompasses all muscles, ligaments and joints. Their extensive training in both anatomy and physiology allows the whole body to be addressed, thus promoting optimal function throughout.
Within osteopathy the two main approaches are Structural and Cranial osteopathy. Structural, which encompasses a more hands on approach of massage and articulation of joints. The techniques used are more intense providing a great relief from acute pain. Cranial, where the main emphasis is treating dysfunction through addressing strain patterns within the body, which impact posture and alignment. The treatment is a more gentle laying on of hands and is an effective therapeutic tool. Both approaches are used to treat children and adults alike.
Amberin has been practicing for over 15 years, using both Structural and Cranial Osteopathy, dependent on the patients requirements. Amberin is currently on the Faculty as a Technique Tutor at The British School of Osteopathy (BSO). She has spent over a decade on the Medical Team for British Gymnastics, and has travelled internationally with the team. Amberin has covered all of the major gymnastic events such as the European Championships, World Championships and the World Cups.
She has recently been selected as part of the medical team for the London 2012 Olympics.
