Make the most of your Summer hol’s... a simple kit of homeopathic remedies can prevent and treat those niggling things that can spoil your fun. Book yourself in for an MOT with your Homeopath before your trip, to boost your immunity and address any issues which might get in the way of a fun time in the sun!
Flying can be hugely draining so be sure to support yourself. If you are an anxious flyer, take Arg. Nit 30 before you leave home and during the flight, it will help you to feel relaxed and calm.We all know that flight cabin air isn’t great, your homeopath can mix up a combination of remedies to lessen the effects... Arnica 30 is brilliant for maintaining good circulation while there are a myriad of remedies which lessen the effects of the toxic air, each Homeopath will have a favorite combination. And of course, drink plenty of water before and during the flight... a dehydrated body is more susceptible to the effects of that nasty in-flight environment.
Jet- lag can be eased by taking a combination of homeopathic Melatonin and Pineal Gland 200 each evening (based on the time zone you are traveling to) during the flight and for a few days after... it will help your body clock to adjust.
It’s great to break free and enjoy the summer sun and a brilliant opportunity to store some Vitamin D for the WInter (see more details on Vitamin D at www.kaywesley.com). If you plan to spend time in the sun, the remedy Sol 30 can be taken a few days before you leave and daily throughout the trip to help protect you against sunburn and sunstroke. Lavera, Weleda and Invisible Zinc all make sunscreens that work well without unnecessary toxicity. Be sure to give your skin a small amount of sun exposure (10-15 minutes) without protection each day to gain Vit D from the suns rays. For after-sun, carry a tube of Aloe Vera gel and keep it in the mini-bar – it’s like heaven when applied to sunburn and lessens peeling. Belladonna 30 is great to treat nasty headaches from too much sun, also for sunburn and prickly heat.
Relaxed and tanned, the last thing you want is to be bitten by insects. If you are susceptible to bites, take Brewers Yeast tablets or eat foods such as Marmite which are high in B12 and is said to make your blood repellent to mosquitoes, while using naturally based insect repellents such as Neemcare and covering up at dusk. If you are bitten however, Ledum 30 will help to reduce swelling and itching. Keep taking it until it brings relief.
Adjusting to new food and water is sometimes difficult. Arsenicum Album 30 can clear diarrhea, while Lycopodium 30 will tackle any inability to ‘go’. If feeling under the weather after overindulging in holiday spirit, take the homeopathic hangover cure Nux Vomica 30.
Homeopathic Consultations are available at Kingyo on Thursday afternoon/evenings. Homeopathic Remedy Kits also available at the time of the consultation or by post.

Summer is a time of high pollen counts. If you are a hay fever sufferer you don’t want to have this lovely time of year be spoilt by constant sneezing, itchy eyes and nose and being tired. You want to be out and about and simple measures can be used to reduce the actual amount of pollen in your nasal passages. When going out, a bit of Vaseline, applied on the nostrils can help to prevent pollen entering the nose. Nose douching with Saline solution or Saline Nasal drops can also help to clear the nasal passages.
There are some homoeopathic remedies that might also ease your symptoms. If your eyes are the main problem with burning, extreme irritation and itching with irritating watering of eyes, Euphrasia 30C might be helpful. If your nose runs like mad with discharge, making your nose and skin around very sore, if you have a lot of sneezing and a blocked nose, Allium cepa 30C might help to ease your symptoms.
Sabadilla 30C is a good remedy if you have an itchy and blocked nose and terrible attacks of sneezing which might provoke tears. Gelsemium 30C can be used if the hay fever makes you really drowsy and weak and violent sneezing makes you feel exhausted. Itching of the throat, ears and palate apart from the nose can be troublesome for some people. If this is the case and you try to scratch your palate with your tongue or people comment on you making funny noises, Wyethia 30C might come to help.
Allergens in homoeopathic potency are also available and can be taken alongside more specific remedies. If you know which type of pollen are the culprits, you can try for instance mixed grass pollen 30C, mixed tree pollen 30C or mixed allergens 30C. All the mentioned homoeopathic remedies can be taken as a 30C once daily or as a 6C three times daily. You might also find ready made mixtures of remedies like Allium cepa, Euphrasia and Sabadilla. However, there are a lot more homoeopathic remedies that might be able to help you. So if those mentioned medicines don’t give you sufficient relief, you might want to ask a homoeopathic pharmacist or homoeopath. Homoeopathic remedies can also be taken alongside conventional medication.
You might also consider constitutional treatment which aims to strengthen the organism generally and prevent the hay fever altogether. However, the best time to do this is between hay fever seasons.
I hope you will be able to go out and about and enjoy this beautiful time of year. Have a lovely summer and a great time outdoors!
