Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy is often viewed as a psychological approach based on scientific principles and which research has shown to be effective for a wide range of problems. CBT is a short-term therapy (8 to 20 sessions) and focuses on the relationship between a person’s thoughts, behaviours, and feelings and the role that they play in a person’s symptoms, daily functioning and quality of life. By focusing on these three components, changes can be made in how a person thinks, acts and feels about his or her difficulties. This then leads to identification of personalised, usually time-limited therapy goals and strategies, which are continually monitored and evaluated.
Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy is an integrative approach to treatment that combines the best aspects of cognitive-behavioural, experiential, interpersonal and psychoanalytic therapies into one unified model. Schema-Focused Therapy has shown good results in helping people wide spectrum of chronic, difficult and character logical problems
